Could a lip balm be worth a $50 (!) price tag? Read on to find out!
A month ago, my lips were wretched. Round the clock vaseline and chapstick were no defense against the peeling, flaking, and cracking that had plagued my pout. Naturally, I refuse to stop wearing lipstick , which I assume was not helping matters. I was pretty desperate and willing to try anything.
I remembered my sister-in-law loved a Chanel lip balm. Since she’s not a beauty whore like me, I figured she must have good reason to like it. I confirmed the name, marched right up to the Chanel counter, and handed over my paycheck.
At first application, it tingled a bit, but my lips slurped up the moisture immediately. Rather than sit on my lips, it actually seemed to hydrate my skin. By the time I got home, there was a noticeable difference in my lips.
The consistency is in the jar appears solid, but it softens as soon as you touch it, melting into a cream. Sort of like coconut oil, but minus the oily feel.
After 2 days, my lips were noticeably plumper. After 1 week, they were significantly more hydrated. Now, after almost a month, my lips are transformed. There are no traces of flakes or cracking.
In addition, it works well under lipstick. The balm is slippery, but grabs on to lipstick to create a stain. It reduces the wear time of lipstick, but it’s a good compromise to be able to wear some color while my lips were healing.
Bottom Line: This is the best lip balm I’ve ever tried. Are there good balms out there for less money? Probably- but frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.
