What could possibly make me get out of bed at 7:30 am on a Sunday? A Beauty Event for VIB Rouge members, hosted by Sephora, of course! I whipped up my hair, grabbed a bestie and some coffee, and off we went!
My local event was at the 12 Oaks Mall Location, but there were events all over the country. Of course I think my local Sephora is the best ever. Knowledgable staff, great selection, and excellent service (they know my name!) keep me coming back again and again.
My favorite beauty gal gave me a personal preview of what’s new for spring. Let’s check it out!
Too Faced Sugar Pop Eye Palette is a candy-themed shadow collection guaranteed to hit the right note with spring florals. A bit colorful for my taste, but I could see hue lovers really getting down on this one.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette is a collection of neutral, matte shadows intended for eye contouring. Good God, I’ve had enough of this contouring business, but hey, do whatever you like.
Cover FX Custom Color Drops has me totally intrigued. A concentrated foundation, it can be mixed with your primer, moisturizer or oil to make the perfect formula for your skin type. Coverage can be controlled by the amount of pigment added to your product. I grabbed a sample and will report back as soon as I have a chance to try it.
Estee Lauder Courreges Collection is a pop art collection of shadows, cheek-lip duos, and illuminators. My first impression was that this is sub-par products in novel packaging. Nothing seemed particularly innovative, but it was aesthetically pleasing.
Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lipstick is a collection of liquid lip creme with staining power. Although I didn’t find a must-have color, the formula felt great on my hand and the stain power was FOR REALS. I will definitely keep my eye on this one for an extended range of colors.
illuminate Skin Rejuvenating Pillowcase with Copper Oxide is a fancy satin pillow case that promises to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep. For $60, I’m a little skeptical that it’s significantly better than a standard satin case. However, my beauty advisor tried it and said she saw a marked reduction in “sheet marks” after she tried it.
Bobbi Brown Hot Collection is a hot pink and nude gold collection of lip, cheek, and eye colors. Perfect for spring, this collection gives you glowing cheeks, subtle eyes, and bright lips. I already own the blush, which I love, and I’ve got my eye on the lip pencils.
NARS Dual Intensity Blush plays on the popularity of the dual-intensity eyeshadow collection with an innovative wet-dry formula. While I love the eyeshadows, I don’t feel drawn to any of the blush colors. To be fair, I have not had the opportunity to try these wet, which can alter the shade range.
So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this spring preview, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on what’s new for the season in the comments below.
