I think I just scrubbed my face off. These were my exact thoughts after sampling Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Facial Rejuvenator. Sadly, I forgot how painful it was and went back for more a few weeks later only to end up with blazing red skin. Even my husband chastised me for not doing a patch test on my delicate face.
The product is not irredeemable, however. It’s really, really, effective. It comes out like a paste, spreads evenly over skin, and has a gratifying grainy texture. It’s enough grit to feel like you are getting the job done, but not so much that it feels scratchy. The next day, my skin looked pretty great. It was smoother and brighter, once the redness wore off. I’m sure the “enzyme” ingredient is what gives this product its super powers, by breaking the bonds that adhere dead skin to your face.
Unfortunately for me, I think it took the rest of my face along with the dead cells. No amount of glowing, fresh skin could convince me to endure the chemical burn of this product again.
Bottom Line: If you have resilient skin that can stand up to steel wool, this stuff will get the job done. On the other hand, if your skin is “hand wash only” avoid at all costs.
