Weather changes and lady hormones left me with a pretty rough case of high school level acne over the past few weeks. Not one to just “go with it,” I came up a routine to fake flawless skin until mine calms down.
Here’s a look at my dream team:
First, prep skin with Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. This lightweight primer smooths skin, absorbs oil, and keeps my makeup from getting shiny and/or breaking down.
Next, smooth on Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H over entire face. I apply more product to the center of my face and smooth outwards. Less product near the jaw/hairline makes blending easier.
Spot Correct with NARS Illuminating Concealer: For the really red areas, this concealer does the trick. It’s totally opaque, blends nicely, and lasts all day.
Brighten with YSL Touche Eclat Radient Touch Concealer: A lightweight formula, this one is great for brightening dark circles under eyes without caking or settling into fine lines.
Set with NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder: The jury is still out on this one, as I’m not sure if it’s as miraculous as the package says. None the less, I recommend setting with a fine-milled powder.
As proof of the effectiveness of this routine, I offer the following: A coworker told me that a student had told her “I like Mrs. M. She has the prettiest skin.” This was at the height of my break out. I felt like the I had the best kept secret around (and some really good products).
