Quick Take: Review of Lock-It Tattoo Foundation by Kat Von D

What it is: Full coverage foundation from Kat Von D, designed to create a smooth, even finish, that promises to last for up to 24 hours.

What it does: Covers all traces of hyper-pigmentation, uneven skin tone and blemishes in a creamy, matte formula.

My Thoughts: This foundation is not for the faint of heart. In fact, if you love your tinted moisturizer and never want to look “made up,” turn back now – cause shit’s about to get real. This foundation is full-coverage, no apologies, make-up. As in, “Yes I’m wearing make-up and I look fucking fabulous,” make-up.

If you’re completely prepared to go for the full make-up look, this foundation is a beauty. Covers like a dream, easy to blend, nice color range, and lasts all day (and I’m guessing all night). I dare to suggest this may be suitable to cover lighter birthmarks. Acne, hyper-pigmentation, and freckles are no match for this super pigmented product.

My only word of caution is that I noticed it settled into fine lines during the day. I gently tapped the creases with my fingertip and they blended away. If you have several deep wrinkles, this product may not be ideal. Otherwise it was worth a little touch up in exchange for perfect skin (even if it’s only for 24 hours).

LOVE this foundation! Been using it everyday for over a year now and your review is on point! 👍 for the settling: I’ve recently paired Lock It with the Light Reflecting Setting Powder by NARS…HIGHLY recommend! 💜💗

Thanks for the tip! I’ve been considering the Nars powder, but don’t want to look shiny. Thoughts?

I’ve only used the setting powder and while the name would hint at some kind of shine, it really just locks in the look you achieve from your liquid foundation. I would, however, suggest Benefit Cosmetics and the Hello Flawless powder foundation. Long wearing and full coverage but SUPER light.
